Corporate IT of Deutsche Börse Group is in charge of end user workplace experience, voice & communication, application development and operations for all group processes such as Financial Core, Customer Care, Control & Corporate Processes, as well as Deutsche Börse Group’s Reference Data Platform. We also develop and operate our Enterprise Analytics and Digital Boardroom which are the core of sharing and measuring our group’s success.

The Head of Instrument & Institution Data must be an inspiring leader in the dimensions of technology and people leadership with first proven record in strategic or operational execution, technology delivery, and product management. In your role you will be responsible for providing instrument and institution data for Deutsche Boerse Group’s full value chain from pre-trade, trade, and post-trade, internally and externally. You are challenged to continue stable operations for an existing environment of multiple applications in Java/Oracle and Mainframe + side applications, while preparing the move into a data-/platform driven process and API-world, developed cloud native in Golang/React on MS Azure. During this journey you have to be sensitive with customer requirements and the individual team needs, while building a bridge into a product and data driven world.

  • Manage a team of strong individual experts across locations;
  • Oversee and deliver (internal) customer projects in scope, budget, timeline;
  • Implement and further evolve a process-oriented and KPI-oriented thinking (eg development processes, release management, product backlog);
  • Implement and evolve a DevOps culture jointly with your and the operations team, including documentation;
  • Coach and mentor the team in technology and methodology transformation by learning MS Azure, Golang/React, OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes, and other cloud native / infrastructure as a code services.
  • Stay on top of market trends in technology, people/skills, data to continuously evolve your organization
  • Drive the transition of overall IT and Corporate IT to be a role model for a data & KPI driven organization
  • Support strategic initiatives, as well as compliance initiatives (2nd line of defence) within Corporate IT

Qualifications/required skills

  • 10+ years experience in Software and Financial Industry in development / operations role, ideally with mainframe and non-mainframe background;
  • People leadership experience including inter-cultural competence;
  • Strong process orientation and client focus, including constant benchmarking and measurement of delivery;
  • Understanding of data models, data structures
  • Understanding of Deutsche Boerse Group value chain, and the interfaces to customers
  • Experience in proper scope, budget/capacity, timeline planning and active management;
  • Strong understanding in DevOps principals.
  • Language skills – fluent German, English an advantage
  • Optional: Strong presentation skills to internal and external stakeholders up to C-Level – simple, smart, convincing
