Functional Analyst - Legacy SME (f/m/d)
Date: 4 Aug 2026
Location: Prague, CZ
Company: Deutsche Börse Group
Your area of work:
The launch of the D7 platform has been the starting point of Clearstream’s digital strategy, covering both domestic and international issuance markets. Following that success, we are continuing to build the very first European Digital CSD by connecting our existing and traditional market infrastructure with our DLT tokenization platform. This allows us to boost volumes, increase processing efficiency, and open up new business opportunities beyond the traditional CSD business, targeting the full value chain of digital and tokenized securities.
About the Role:
As the Functional Analyst – Legacy SME, you will play a critical role in bridging Clearstream’s existing, highly stable legacy market infrastructures with our cutting-edge D7 and D7 DLT tokenization platform. This role provides crucial functional oversight, ensuring that digital asset issuances, life-cycle processing, and settlements seamlessly translate into our core transactional ledger.
Working in close alignment with Solution Architects, business owners, and engineering teams, you will act as a primary subject matter expert on traditional financial flows. You will analyse legacy system capabilities and constraints, translate complex integration requirements into detailed functional specifications, and support developers in designing and implementing interoperability solutions.
Together with our cross-functional teams, you will ensure the operational continuity and systemic safety of our hybrid digital-and-legacy securities ecosystem.
Your responsibilities:
- Communicate with business owners, business operations teams, and business analysts across different departments to understand, shape, and structure the requirements for D7 platform integration with legacy core components.
- Understand and map the potential, as well as the unique functional limitations, of existing post-trade processes, legacy platforms, and traditional core technologies.
- Capture and document functional and integration requirements in a highly detailed, clear, and understandable form (e.g., system specifications, data-mapping diagrams, and flowcharts).
- Provide support to Software Engineers and application developers to help them understand and properly implement integration requirements, while actively identifying and navigating technical constraints.
- Participate in the testing lifecycle (including User Acceptance Testing - UAT) and contribute to the root-cause investigation and resolution of integration-related production incidents.
- Stay open-minded and understand the broad, complex context of implementing and operating software components in a highly regulated financial market environment.
Your profile:
- University degree in Economics, Finance, IT, or a related field (equivalent experience will be considered).
- 5+ years of professional experience in business/functional analysis, system integration, or software testing within the financial sector.
- Previous hands-on experience in post-trade custody, settlement, or asset-servicing operations.
- Solid familiarity with financial messaging standards, specifically SWIFT ISO 15022 and ISO 20022 formats.
- Highly analytical mind-set: You can actively listen, untangle complex operational flows, with the ability to understand complex operational processes and reconcile differing stakeholder requirements.
- Excellent communication skills: You explain complex business, integration, and functional topics in a manner that is easily understood by team members without a business background. You do not hesitate to ask questions, express your doubts, or kindly challenge ideas during discussions. You have no problem admitting and accepting mistakes.
- High degree of self-dependence: You are highly self-motivated, proactive, and constantly looking for opportunities to improve core workflows or your own skills. You take clear responsibility and are highly motivated to deliver.
- Team player: You work exceptionally well with people of diverse backgrounds and personalities (from developers to product managers); you are happy to help and share your functional expertise. You are a collaborative team player who works effectively across business and technology functions in a multicultural and international environment.
- Language skills: Excellent written and spoken English.
Would be an advantage:
- Good understanding of traditional securities issuance workflows and securities lifecycle management.
- Foundational experience with Blockchain / Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) and tokenization use cases.
- Experience in documenting process flows, data mappings, interface specifications, and functional requirements using industry-standard analysis techniques and tools.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to motivate and steer people coming from different professional backgrounds (Dev, Business, Product, etc.).
- Basic understanding of the advantages and limitations of test automation.
