As part of the Database Administration team within Linux Infrastructure Operations, your responsibilities will be the operation and development of the Corporate IT system landscape – physical and virtual, on premise and in the cloud.

We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated individual who will help us maintain operational stability, optimize automation and who is eager to help us move forward in adapting to new technology, approaches and methodologies (e.g. SRE, cloud…). 

 

Tasks/responsibilities

  • Daily operation of databases
  • Close cooperation with system administrators
  • Standardization and automation of database configuration deployment (Ansible)
  • Maintain and ensure high-availability of the databases (through clustering or stand-by hosts)
  • Support configuration of the monitoring of the databases
  • System lifecycle management, capacity and performance management.
  • Continuous improvement and automation of processes for both operation and deployment activities.
  • Onboarding of mandatory security measures and compliance
  • Operation includes early shift (7:00 - 15:00) and on-call duty distributed among the team (an average of 1-2 shifts incl. on-call duty per month expected).

 

 

Qualifications/required skills

  • University degree in Information Technology or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience in Database Administration in a highly critical environment
  • Expertise in Oracle and/or PostgreSQL (installation, monitoring and maintenance, tuning and troubleshooting, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of one or more of the following technologies: RedHat Linux, Ansible, Docker, Veritas Cluster Server, Azure
  • Willingness to take over responsibility and self-motivate.
  • An interest in gaining expertise on new technologies.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English. German is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a team.
