Financial Risk is responsible for the assessment, quantification and reporting of financial risks of Clearstream Banking S.A. as well as on Clearstream Holding level including all legal entities within Clearstream. The unit inter alia assumes responsibility for design, maintenance and progression of all quantitative models used to determine capital requirements for financial risks under the economic perspective within the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) of Clearstream Group. Furthermore, the continuous review, assessment and development of the Internal Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process (ILAAP) and related Treasury models for the Clearstream entities form part of the team’s responsibilities. The position itself and a major part of the team is located in Luxembourg, however, parts of the team are also located in Frankfurt/Germany. As Head of Unit, you will be the line manager and also be the main stakeholder within Clearstream on any financial risk-related topics covering credit, market and liquidity risk topics. You significantly contribute to Clearstream’s overall risk strategy and shape its way towards establishing a robust financial risk management framework in one of the largest financial market infrastructure providers.

 

Your responsibilities:

 

  • Lead the Financial Risk team, actively manage and develop people and topics alike

  • Given your broad risk management expertise, you take responsibility for the annual review of the risk inventory and associated materiality assessments of Clearstream entities in the economic perspective for all types of financial risks

  • Based on your strong quantitative background and model design expertise, you steer and guide the team regarding methodology for financial risk drivers (credit, market and liquidity), which includes the review of the frameworks for both adequate stress scenarios and rigorous back tests to continuously challenge a model’s performance, support the regular mid- and long-term corporate capital planning, performing ad hoc risk analysis, conduct regular parameter and assumption reviews as well as model amendments due to changes in e.g. business strategy, market economics or regulatory landscape

  • Your process management skills are required to coordinate regular and ad hoc tasks coming from multiple stakeholders within the risk area or Clearstream entities for supportive advisory, assessments, and collaboration on broader risk management topics

 

Your profile:

 

  • You have successfully completed a graduate university degree in Business Administration/Economics, Risk Management or similar more quantitative fields, enabling you to quickly apprehend both financial economics on financial product/services levels as well as quantitative topics

  • You have at least 7 years of relevant professional experience in the financial industry, preferably in a risk control function within credit, market and/or liquidity risk management, providing you with a well-founded and broad understanding of financial markets and the regulatory landscape

  • You have demonstrated strong inter-personal and soft skills in previous projects/leadership roles making you an efficient team player to lead as a role model for the team, enabling you to confidently collaborate and liaise with people across all levels of seniority and external supervisory authorities

  • You are equipped with a high degree of organizational self-reliance and very good communication skills that shows proficiency in written and spoken English; German language skills are desirable
