Risk Analyst - Model Validation (f/m/d)

Field of activity

Model Validation is key to Eurex Clearing’s Model Risk Management. As a second line risk management function, we provide an independent view on the validation of risk models and the management of model risk across all risk models at Eurex Clearing. This includes qualitative and quantitative model analyses, including governance, model inventory with risk assessments and model classification) as well as an independent model review.

Model Validation reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer of Eurex Clearing and regularly presents its model risk analyses to the Executive Board and regulators. In addition, team members are involved in cross-functional, strategic projects of Deutsche Börse Group.



  • Development of Eurex Clearing’s Model Risk Management considering regulatory requirements and market best practice.
  • Establishment of Model Risk Management across the model lifecycle, including initial validation, on-going validation as well as annual model performance evaluation and reviews.
  • Validation of risk and valuation models performing validation analyses and tests, discussing results with internal and external stakeholders and writing validation reports.
  • Presentation of model validation results to senior management and supervisory authorities.
  • Collaboration with IT /Functional team for system implementation and user acceptance testing.


Qualifications/required skills

  • Master’s Degree in economics, finance or a quantitative discipline.
  • Experience in at least one of the following fields:
    • non-financial Risk Management, ideally Model Risk Management.
    • financial risk management, ideally Model Development or Model Validation.
    • 2nd or 3rd line risk management function with understanding of effective control environments, e.g. from compliance or internal audit.
  • Excellent analytical skills and understanding risk and valuation models for cleared products.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English are required, because the work requires routine interaction with model developers and key stakeholders such as senior management and regulators.
