Trading & Clearing is a division within Deutsche Börse Group and home of Xetra, Eurex, 360T, Crypto Finance as well as the European Energy Exchange. The Trading & Clearing Strategy section supports the development of the long-term organic and inorganic growth strategy from a division perspective. It maintains an ongoing business intelligence, manages organic and inorganic strategic projects, and acts as the interface to other areas within Deutsche Börse.
The Business Intelligence Team provides strategic insights across Deutsche Börse’s Trading & Clearing division. By combining market intelligence, competitor monitoring, and quantitative research, the team supports senior decision-makers in navigating industry shifts, growth opportunities and political and market dynamics.
As an M&A Analyst within the Business Intelligence Team, you will shape the Trading & Clearing division’s inorganic roadmap by identifying and analyzing strategic opportunities, evaluating partnerships and acquisitions, and supporting due diligence processes. You will actively screen the market for relevant opportunities, monitor competitor activity, and provide actionable insights to support decision making across the Trading & Clearing division.
Your responsibilities
- You will be responsible for shaping and maintaining Trading & Clearing division’s M&A and venture pipeline by conducting market sizing, desk research, and opportunity assessments to identify relevant targets in collaboration with business stakeholders
- You will screen the market for relevant acquisition, venture, and partnership targets; support outreach by preparing briefings, setting up introductions, and tracking interactions
- You will conduct business case evaluations for potential targets, including strategic fit with existing offerings, revenue/cost synergies, and integration considerations
- You will monitor and report competitor activity, including strategic moves, deal flow, and new product initiatives relevant to the Trading & Clearing division
- You support due diligence efforts from a business perspective by coordinating with Trading & Clearing experts and consolidating commercial input for the central M&A team
- You help prepare high-quality decision-making documents for senior management and steering committees
Your profile
- You hold a top-tier university degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related field
- You have at least 3 years of experience in M&A or Institutional Finance
- You demonstrate strong analytical skills and an in-depth understanding of capital market microstructure, competitive positioning, and strategic fit of acquisition or investment targets
- You are highly proficient in MS Office applications, especially PowerPoint and Excel
- You show a high level of commitment, an independent working style, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of seniority
- You are fluent in written and spoken English; German language skills are a plus
