Field of activity

The server infrastructure of our trading systems is crucial for the sustainability of our Derivatives and Cash markets Eurex & Xetra. In your role, you will be responsible for the management and administration of the Derivatives & Cash Linux/Unix and OpenVMS server-systems covering the complete value chain from development to production. This includes system monitoring and server configuration, trouble shooting, Incident and Problem resolution, as well as Patch, Vulnerability and Compliance Management.

In our team in Eschborn, you are an integral part of our daily operations, and will work closely with multinational colleagues. The Derivatives and Cash Eurex/Xetra server operations team is located in Frankfurt and Chicago. This position comes with a substantial benefits package and requires some domestic and international travel.

 

Tasks/responsibilities

  • System management (administration, upgrading, patching), capacity and performance management. Installation and upgrade of third party products
  • Daily operation of Linux/Unix & OpenVMS based Servers including monitoring and troubleshooting of server issues
  • Installation of Linux/Unix Operating System on physical and virtual servers using automated deployment technologies
  • Maintain and ensure high-availability on application or server level through clustering or stand-by hosts

 

Qualifications/required skills

  • University degree in Information Technology or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ experience in System Administration in a critical environment
  • Expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration, monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Experience with automated deployment using Red Hat Satellite 5/6, puppet and ansible. Configuration of highly available systems using Red Hat Cluster.
  • Configuration and support of Veritas Volume Manager (disk group management, snapshots functionality, file systems creation/grow/shrink/removal, etc.) and Veritas Cluster Server (custom agents, resource dependencies and criticality, network setup, monitoring, etc.)
  • Knowledge in Solaris10/11 administration is an advantage
  • Additional skills in one or more of the following areas will be of advantage:
  • Knowledge of OpenVMS,
  • Knowledge of SAN-based disk management
  • good knowledge of HPE blade technologies (c7000, Synergy, Apollo)
  • Experience with time synchronization (PTP)
  • Participate in a shift rotation andoccasional weekend work to implement hardware and configuration changes on critical production devices
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Ability to work in a highly critical production environment
  • Willingness to take over responsibility
  • Willingness to gain expertise on new technologies
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
