Field of activity

Cash Markets Operations is responsible for safe, integer and efficient delivery of our services to customers in Deutsche Börse Cash Markets (Frankfurt Stock Exchange market places: Xetra and Börse Frankfurt) and partner exchanges (mainly around Europe) by running the day-to-day business. It ensures safe and orderly trading and runs the customer helpdesks for related trading services.

As an Intern/Student Assistant – Cash Markets Operations at Deutsche Börse you will have the excellent opportunity to explore capital market dynamics and to gain valuable practical experience in an innovative company. The Cash Markets Operations section is responsible for the proper and functional operation of the trading systems. You will be actively taking part in our process, while we are offering you diverse, interesting and above all challenging tasks.



  • Support for the team in performing daily work that ensures, to possible extent, error-free and smooth functional operation of several markets within the framework of different topics: Instruments, Corporate Actions, System interfaces & Tools as well as emergency handling
  • Help in monitoring trading activities in the cash market systems
  • Contribution to functional support of market participants (especially traders & system developers) in all functional questions with regards to market models, products and other trading related topics
  • Active participation in diverse projects


Qualifications/required skills

  • Students must be enrolled in an academic programme during their internship, preferably in finance/economics
  • Strong analytical skills, creativity and ability to break down complex topics into smaller operational steps and presentation skills to effectively communicate them to the Team or Management
  • Reliability, ability to work under pressure as well as independently
  • Ability and willingness to quickly get up to speed in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate in an international, multi-lingual environment as well as team spirit


Capital Markets interest

  • General interest in understanding underlying drivers of capital markets; fascination by day-to-day dynamics of financial markets operations
  • Knowledge of trading market models and systems of the Deutsche Börse Cash Markets is an advantage
  • Operations aptitude
  • Can-do attitude and driven to learn and grow; flexible (including because of work in time shifts) & stress-resistance
  • IT affinity and being on pulse of latest technology trends is an advantage (esp. IoT, Operations 4.0)
  • First experience with programming (e.g. VBA) and willingness to expand skills in this area is an advantage



  • Team Player
  • Proven ability to quickly integrate into a multi-cultural, multi-language and diverse team and become a reliable team member
  • Knowledge and experience in project management is an advantage
  • Fluent written and spoken English and German
