(Senior) Policy Advisor (f/m/d) Financial Services in Brussels
Your responsibilities
You will work in EEX’ EU Representation Office in Brussels, which acts as center of expertise and is responsible for relations with EU stakeholders and institutions. The EU Representation Office is part of the Political & Regulatory Affairs team with locations across Europe. In line with EEX’ business strategy, you will have a particular focus on financial services and sustainable finance policy of relevance to energy derivative markets. We prioritise market integrity and transparency, and we will expect you to carry this forward. In addition, you will support EEX’s response to key political issues such as the Clean Industrial Deal or the Savings & Investments Union. As part of your role, you will have a close communication line with your colleagues at EEX headquarters and support the implementation of regulatory requirements. Together with your colleagues in Brussels, you will define EEX’ European policy priorities and report to the Head of EU Representation. You will be expected to gradually take ownership of your topics, for which a warm group of colleagues and experts supports you. Your tasks
- Monitor and analyse political and regulatory developments relevant for energy derivative markets, with a focus on financial market regulation and rules governing market oversight and integrity. (e.g., MiFID/R, MAR, NBFI)
- Together with EEX’ business experts, coordinate concrete positions and establish appropriate communication strategies for the respective topics.
- Represent EEX in a trustworthy manner.
- Build and maintain a network across private and institutional stakeholders, including industry associations, and EU and national competent authorities.
- Support the Head of EU Representation with EEX’s response to political priorities and financial regulation and sustainability related topics
You bring along:
- Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Good understanding of financial services policy and law-making processes applicable to energy derivative markets.
- Ability to analyse complex issues and to present these in a target group-oriented manner.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proactive and accountable style of working.
- Excellent command of spoken and written English. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Academically qualified in relevant fields.
